KL full throttle : Day 1

When it has been ages since I went back to KL, this is what happens.... Making the most out of my stay :)


Watching a performance at One Utama was one of the last things that we did today


Trying out the new Food Republic food at One Utama, for lunch. Overpriced items. But the taste was good though.

Menggedik di Menara Alor Setar

Kalau aku tak silap la kan, aku rasa ini adalah bangunan yang tertinggi di Kedah. Tapi apa yang sedih tu, menara ni, kalau susun aku barang 25 kali secara meningkat, mungkin akan menjadi lebih tinggi dari menara ni.

Tapi apa yang best pasal menara ni, tiap2 petang, tempat ni akan menjadi tempat bersantai untuk kawan2, couple2, and family. Kiranya it is a family-oriented place la.


Dan juga, sekarang ni Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Kedah memang aktif dalam mengadakan macam2 aktiviti di seluruh kedah. Salah satu darinya adalah mempromosi kesihatan. Jadi team aerobics bawah bimbingan Aunty Kim akan beraerobics pada setiap petang sabtu di kaki menara tersebut.


Cuba teka siapa paling muda kat situ?

Thank God I have a strong heart.

If I had a weak heart, I am pretty sure I would have been admitted to the intensive cardiac care unit today.

The day started with a sad news of a passing of my friend's grandma.

Then it proceeded to the excitement of my travel.

Then it was injected with the first unexpected element of surprise. The second came 2 hours later. And the third, completes the whole picture.

More surprises to come? Like a Blackberry perhaps?

Treeman VS Cauliflowerman

I am sure many of you heard and have seen somewhere on the WWW of the Treeman in Indonesia. He live most of his live growing root-like warts all over his body, hands, feet and face. His wife left him and he was working in a freak show exhibition just to put food on the table and to support himself and his children.


When I first learned of Dede, I was fascinated by the story and I wanted to know more. I even have a dream of meeting him personally and touching those root-like projections and wonder how did all this happened. It is really amazing how the normal human tissues can transform into dry roots. Just amazing. You can read more about Dede here

Recently, on the day of my on call, which was last Tuesday, I decided to work in the emergency department for a few hours, just to pass time while the hospital doors are open for family and friends to visit the patients. I can be doing my work in the wards as the patients will be swarmed by dotting visitors.

As I was busy running from a catheter insertion to attending to an accident victim, I found myself walking towards the procedure room hoping to get some suturing done on some patients. I saw that the curtains were drawn and I was really hoping to jump into a suturing procedure. But what welcomed me behind those curtains were more than I had expected.

As I entered, the student nurses were cleaning a stump on a 50 years old man. I thought it was just one of those poorly-cared diabetic stump. But when I took a good look at it, it was actually a growth on the man's congenitally defected foot. He was born without a foot and in the pass 4-6 months, a cauliflower-like growth has taken place of the stump.


The man came in because he accidentally hit his stump on the floor and it bleed massively. I told the student nurses to let me guide them in cleaning the stump and growth as the creases between the growth was already smelling really fowl. I usually work without my mask on, no matter how fowl the case is. But this time round, I had to put a mask on.

I talked to the patient casually, creating a rapport between me and him, and also creating a trust. I want him to know that we want to help the best we can so that he can rid himself of the growth that is actively growing. To consider the time that it has taken to grow, it could mean that the growth is of a malignant origin.

The man could loose the entire of his left leg because most of his superficial vessels are non-viable.

I am so happy to be the first persons to see this Cauliflowerman in Malaysia. So I guess it really pays to be a little proactive in doing what I love, surgery and acute and emergecy.

minta maaf ye semua sebab blog aku agak bosan dan tak banyak update masa ni. maklum la. aku sekarang tengah busy belajar photography and macam mana nak guna photoshop yang sangat la susah mengalahkan surgery tu!!! arrrgghhh!!! tension....!!!

dan sebenarnya (eh, terYuna pulak), aku dalam recovery stage n. aku pergi menjalani pembedahan plastik. dr. jan adams adalah doctor dalam mimpi aku.....

sila jangan terkejut kalau jumpa aku real life ye. jangan lari pun... nanti mak kenjar you nyah!!! awwww!!!

al-kisahnya, aku pulang ke KL. dan ia adalah wajib bagi kami the Ronggengs untuk melepak dan bergossip dan juga aerobik mulut (serious, Hafiz adik si Ain ingat ada excercise baru macam ni... huhuh....sengal la sungguh). mula2 plan nak buat hari khamis malam since aku balik Kedah Jumaat malam. tapi cik Eliea ada kerja la pulak. pastu awalkan ke hari Rabu malam, macam2 hal la pulak budak2 yang lain. last2 pung pang pung pang dalam email dan juga facebook, kami pun sebulat perut suara bersetuju untuk laksanakan periuk-untung pada malam 28/10/09.

mula2 janji jam 9mlm. tapi macam biasa arr.... ronggeng kan... 9.45mlm baru nak tiba. dah berlubang kena gastric juice perut aku menunggu dowh...

Ronggeng yang pertama tiba adalah the gorgeous Jenna. adoiyayy... nak aku tampal mulut dia dengan duct tape neh. mana tak nya. dia sampai depan umah aku dia pekikkannya nama aku. Jenn darling semaling, rumah beta ada doorbell sayang. sila tekan ye lain kali huhuh... tu takpe lagi, aku dah diri depan mata dia pun, dia pekiknya lagi nama aku. ishh... lepas ni nak kuar rumah, aku nak kena pakai paperbag cover muka neh. malu punya pasal X_x.

kendian nya pulak, tiba 3 dara pingitan: Eliea, Kings, & Ain. wah, mula dah sesi aerobik mulut (gelak tak henti). aku sama jenna dah pekik kelaparan. lepas set up table aku yang comel sangat neh, kami pun duduk and bermulalah sesi ronggeng kami...

ini adalah antara hidangan yang ada. sebab mereka semua carrier girls, tak sempat la nak masak. so, they brought store-bought items. aku pulak takde idea nak buat apa. so aku pun masak la "sardine masak bodo" and aku beli bread untuk makan sama sardine tu.

sedap2 tengah makan. Roz pulak tiba. dalam mail dia kata untuk periuk-untung ni, dia akan datang dengan membawa diri. haaa amik kau! memang iye pun, literally, dia bawa diri. tapi sian kat dia, baru habis klass. tu yang tak menyempat tu. bai the roti pisang (eliea, bukan i suruh you beli roti pisang ye), you amik klass apa Roz? klass ke kursus ke??? jeng jeng jeng...

all in all, malam itu sangat entertaining ok. we caught up with each other's life. we laughed, we seriously talked (kejap je huhuh) about some issues, we speaker called, we gossiped, and all that. memang sangat best. i love my ronggengs, and mind you, they are irreplaceable.....

p/s: hari ni semua pakat bangun awal untuk jogging. guilty dowh!! X_x

they need love

although we were there not too long, but they warmed up to each and everyone of us immediately. i am so humbled to see the innocent faces that crave for attention and love. although they lack many things, they are still happy and thankful for what they have.

sometimes i wish i have a heart like theirs.

kadang2 aku harap sangat ramadhan sampai setahun tau!

kenapa?

iye la, hari tu masa ramadhan, aku rasa la, rasa je ni, aku tak sukat pun. aku rasa yang aku ada la loose some weight kat rambut aku, kat gigi aku huhuh....

tapi, bila dah raya ni, baru masuk raya ke-3 ok, aku rasa aku dah gain balik weight kat segala tempat yang tak patut!!! huarrrggghhh!!!! X_x

di sini aku nak buat pengakuan:
-aku punya usual diet, terus hancur masa raya sebab apa, sebab aku bukan kat rumah aku sendiri and orang dah pelawa and aku takleh nak tolak sebab aku tak nak orang cakap aku ni mengada atau tak appreciate pelawaan orang. my mum taught me well. aku pandai jaga diri.
-aku terpaksa juga gagahkan diri makan nasi sebab i ran out of excuses not to.
-kuih2 raya yang ada depan mata tu, kalau tak habis satu pinggan, sure diaorang akan duduk sama and make sure habiskan. aku nak kata apa? masuk dalam beg? beg pun aku tak bawa.
-tapi aku tak makan lemang atau ketupat palas. alasan ~>aku tak makan pulut. thank God yang tu boleh diterima akal. huhuhuh.....

tapi yang aku pelik tu, walau derang makan macam mana pun, badan masing2, semua sama ada maintain, atau kurus. tak pulak aku nampak yang gemuk2 kat tempat tu. i think it is all their way of living la kan.

anyway, pas ni, jgn harap aku nak ulang aksi yang sama. serious i am back to my usual diet. huhuhhuh

ma, i AM thinking nak join you all to start balik next week... huhuh... kita buat secara perhubungan jarak jauh ok ;)

Mika Hakkinen, sila beri laluan!

bestnyer!!! my first real ambulance call. dari hosp ke mahkamah in 7 mins flat!! nak termakan lantai van aku tadi dalam perjalanan tu. punya la laju and jerky brakes!! dengan bunyi siren nyer and all. sangat cool ok!!

bila turun kat scene, orang2 yang ada kat mahkamah pandang out team dengan penuh harapan. gila terasa macam ER, bukan Ampang Medical ye. rasa macam "waaahhh!!" sangat masa turun dari van and terus pergi attend the patient.

sementara MA assess patient, aku cakap sama the next of kin. tanya pasal any meds that patient is currently on, any comorbidities. bila derang angkat patient masuk van, aku amik the "life bag" and joined them. on the way to hosp, aku fill the MA with infos that i obtained and he exchanged his infos with me too.

sampai kat yellow zone, i updated the docs about the patient, while the attending MA, ntah ke mana. baru nak borak ngan dia pasal jam... huhuhh....

set line, set drip, push some drugs and then let patient rest. 10mins after that, i went to check on her and reassured her of her situation.

owh sangat best!!!

kalau nak perut kempis, sila pergi tengok filem SETEM. tak payah nak bayar ribu2 kat sendayu tinggi. betul neh!

pernah tak dengar yang orang kata that laughing is a good excercise for the abdomen? tak pernah? well, sekarang korang dah tau kan, sebab aku bagitau ni kan.... tak caya? ok, baca ni.

ok... sila angkat kaki sesiapa yang ada perut boroi atau dipanggil dengan nama manja Roy, yang sebenarnya bukan sebab nama itu manja tetapi anda telah kerap kali ditanya, "bila engkau due?", sedangkan anda adalah seorang lelaki. sila... sila... jangan memalu (sambil angkat kaki belah kiri sendiri).

kelmarin, aku memang la bz tahap tan sri najib tun razak (alah, dia bukannyer bz pun, berlakon je tu). kejap2 aku pergi campus, kejap2 aku balik rumah, kejap2 kang aku pergi balik campus. kenapa aku berbuat kerja sedemikian? sebab aku ada 2 presentations, aku ada tetamu, aku ada translation, dan obviously, aku ada fun untuk dienjoy. so, lepas aku habis semua perkara kat campus, aku pun ajak la tetamu aku untuk pergi tengok wayang. sebenarnya nak tengok GI Joe, seperti yang dijanjikan. tapi, lepas dah tengok waktu movie kat internet, we decided to watch SETEM first, then maybe later tengok GI Joe. tapi bila sampai kat mall (kalau kat sini, central square tu dikira mall la ye. kalau kat KL central square tu orang panggil tahap kedai runcit je), kami beli tiket untuk SETEM je dulu. GI Joe, pending. sebab nak pergi pasar malam la konon lepas tengok movie tu.

mula2 macam skeptical juga la. sebab panggung pun tak ramai orang. we were like "eh, tak best ke apa? takde orang neh??". but as soon as the movie started, people start piling in.

aku tak pernah pun tengok trailer movie ni. cuma masa tu, aku nampak poster dia kat one utama and then, eliea ada mention nak tengok movie ni. tapi tak sempat nak tengok while i was in KL. so, semalam la yang sempatnya.

aku tak nak cerita panjang. sebab nnt korang tak pergi tengok. nnt saper nak beli tiket? nnt saper nak bayar these people for their great movie?? tapi kan, baik korang pergi tengok la. i was laughing even after the movie ended. teringat kat the scenes, aku boleh gelak tak henti ni. encik yang teman aku tengok movie tu pun dah ingat aku tengah high ke apa... huhuhuh....





tak tipu.... lepas aku tengok movie ni, perut aku rasa ketat macam baru lepas pakai tali pinggang getar2 daripada OSIM tu (atau mungkin perut aku ketat sebab aku lapar sebenarnya??).

minggu ni aja dah 3 nature outings aku pergi. tere tak? tere tak?

pada geng ronggeng, serious sayang arr korang tak pergi. sangat best ok.

tempat ni terletak kat gombak. nak cari dia agak payah but thanks to fb eco warrior group, we got the chance to go there. omg, the place is beautiful and the terrain sangat best. i wish my family likes these kind of outings, mesti aku akan bawa derang ke sana.

a walk in a park is not actually a walk in a park, more like a gruelling session of calorie burning in a park (for some people that is).

omg, aku sangat suka nature ok. aku ni simple aja. takyah nak susah2. asal kau bawa aku pergi jalan2 kat nature, aku dah happy macam budak dapat makan aiskrim bantal.

so, hari selasa aku pergi sungai gabai. pernah dengar tak? tak pernah kan?? kan?? sila salahkan diri sendiri sebab tak buat research ok. tempat itu mmg AWESOME ok. walau la we all sesat sampai dua kali, the trip was worth it. kalau malas nak workout sket untuk panjat bukit gabai tu, sila tak payah pergi. tempat tu mmg kena panjat bukit punya. baru la adventure kan. but bila dah sampai atas, owhh... sangat puas hati. so, we all lepak kat satu spot ni, kira ok la juga. nasib tak ramai orang, ada la geng ahbengs kat sana kan. mana tau, tetiba ahbengs tu frenly la pulak. siap cabar lagi untuk turun slide kat batu tu. aku mula2 takut la kan. mana tak, batu dowh! silap tarikh, boleh pecah kepala. but one ahbeng told me: "don't think, just go". uuuuu.... sangat wise ok. aku pun kosongkan otak aku (yang mmg agak empty sebenarnya), and swwwooooshhhh..... slide turun. bengkak pungkok juga arr... adoiyayy...

hari selasa pulak, patutnya pergi bukit cahaya. tapi sebab aku dah pergi ngan yah early this year, aku decided nak pergi FRIM cause mmg teringin sangat nak pergi canopy walk dia sebenarnya and also go around the park. after much round2 the mulberry bush, baru la kami jumpa parking and started our journey. nasib ada orang tu baca papan tanda, aku main redah aja. sebab dia baca papan tanda punya pasal, we all turun balik and beli tickets untuk naik canopy walk tu. ingatkan from the start of the hill to the entrance to the hike up tu tak jauh, sekali, amik ko! ada barang 30mins juga la nak masuk ke entrance tu. bila dah sampai at the foot of the hill, kena daki lagi 50m up to get to the walkway. aku yang tak biasa semput ni, dah menitik2 dah peluh. bawa bag sarat lagi ngan barang picnic. tapi takpe cause once we got ourselves on the walkway, penat semua dah hilang. sangat breathtaking ok.

kalau ada yang gayat, sila jangan naik arr.

aku macam biasa arr nak main2 kat walkway tu kan, lompat2 and sway the walkway. kui kui kui ada orang takut tu... ntah apa apa ntah. bila sampai kat each platform, ada info that we can read about what we are looking at. sebelum naik walkway tu, ada papantanda yang soh senyap kan, so that we can see wildlife kat sana. but geng yang after us tu, adoiyayy, memekak macam orang pekak. bukan kata binatang, orang pun boleh lari la dengar suara derang.

cuma yang slack pasal canopy walk neh, pendek naa jarak dia... tak puas arr.

aku tak tahu lak kat curve ada bowling alley sampai la ada orang tu kasi tau kat aku. so, sebab dia nak tunjuk yang dia tere, kami pun pergi la membowling kat PinJunction at E @ the curve.


boleh tahan gak alley tu. it is fairly new. i have no idea when it was opened. gila arr... this is evident enough that aku dah lama tak kuar jalan2 kat KL neh. anyway, i like the place as compared to the alley in OU. PinJunction ni mmg besar and still shiny. pastu, dia nyer kasut, jenis yang velcro punya, so takyah la nak payah2 nak ikat tali kasut kan.

pastu yang best tu, masa weekdays punya promotion. kalau siang nyer price, rm10 untuk 3 game. kalau nite nyer game, rm18 for 3 games, kira ok la tu kan. kasut tu, rm2 per pair. stokin, tu aku tak tahu la berapa harga kan. we brought our own.

anyway, dalam 3 game tu, aku leading 2 game. errr.... apa kes orang wakil sekolah? huhuhh... .jangan marah arr... :P

hari ni pulak hujan lebat. lepas game, perut lak bunyi macam keroncong yang main masa nikah si polan hari tu. so, apa lagi, menapak cari rezeki arr....aku punya craving, My News Cafe.


terus2 aku order cantonese mee. mmg this is my utmost FAVORITE dish ok. yang paling best lak tu, it was under promotion juga. from rm8.90 per plate, the promo price was rm5.50 per plate. owh.... sangat la berbaloi. happy giler aku dapat makan cantonese mee tu. tapi macam biasa arr... mana habis. banyak dowh!


lagi satu kenapa aku suka My News Cafe, mana2 branch korang pergi pon, rasa dish dia tak lari, sama je. and more over, boleh baca mags while waiting. so, boleh arr divert attention dari perut keroncong tu tadi kan.

nasib baik aku disuruh jadi camerawoman. at least boleh aku cari sebab untuk lari dari makan durian.

hari tu abah aku dari kg. hilir call. dia dah peasn suruh datang kampung sebab ada hari "sepetang di dusun". apa yang aku faham, ini adalah program antara keluarga angkat dan anak angkat, kira orang2 kampung nak belanja kami makan buah2 dari dusun derang la. aku ingat ni small-scale event. mana tau, sekali dengan tan sri la, dato' la, RTM 1 buat coverage la bagai.

masa mula2 sampai tu, cuma ada aku sama BBP je yang mewakili uni kami. yang lain tak nampak batang hidung, especially our doctors. tapi, orang2 kuat UiTM merbok semua dah datang isi tempat kosong. even dr. jamilah yang head the klinik kesihatan merbok pun spared her time to be there.

takde la besar2 sangat actually. but the main thing was the fruits. omg!! sangat banyak ok. berapa ramai yang datang tu, boleh tak habis tau buah2 yang drang hidang. durian tu, siap sorang boleh bawa balik sebiji lagi, kecuali aku la kan sebab aku mmg tak nak pun. tapi apa yang aku pelik tu, cara orang sini makan durian. sangat2 heavy ok. durian tu dimakan dengan pulut dan ditambah santan, gula. itu opsyen 1. opsyen 2 pulak, still the same, tapi gula tukar kepada ikan masin (dabel yu ti eff??). opsyen 3 pula, sama gak, ikan masin tukar kepada inti kueh koci. i was like "whoa!!", tak ke rasa sangat jelak makan macam tu punya heavy?

aku tgk semua bantai makan durian like there is no tomorrow. aku tgk pun aku takut. tak ke panas rasa badan derang? walaupun kemah tu open, bau durian tetap menusuk lubang hidung ku yang macam serombong kapal ni. orang yang tgk aku berdiri tercegat sambil amik video tu, semua tanya "dah makan?". "errr.... saya tak makan durian". tapi sebab aku bz masa tu, jadi aku terlepas la dari soalan yang sama yang datang dari orang yang berbeza.

ada juga cempedak, rambutan, manggis, dan yang paling rare, cucur durian. aku rasa la kan, kalau boleh buat cakotiaw masak durian pun, mesti derang buat. kopi campur durian ke, minyak wangi durian ke, apa2 je la. semua neh derang nak buat dari durian.

masa jalan2 kat area tu, aku tgk geng akua sibuk makan buah dari pokok. aku pun terjah la. sekali tengok derang dok bantai makan langsat. wahh!! aku pun join sekali la. iye la, tgk pokok pun tak berpagar, so, kami tak segan langsung untuk ambil kotak and start petik langsat sampai hampir penuh kotak tu la. iye la kan, nak bawa balik la. sekali tgk, pokok tu bertuan daa!!! adoiyayy... bukan salah kami ok. kami serious tak tahu. buat muka innocent bagai, pastu, pass... leh bawa balik langsat tu :P

nasib aku takde selera nak lunch. punya kenyang makan buah aja.

haaa.... amik ko! 3 hari aku tak blogging, boleh? rindu tak? sure sure rindu kan? huhuhhuh..... ok ok ... bukan apa, aku agak tidak stabil sikit semenjak 2 hari lepas. maybe sebab aku rush kott... so, sekarang dah agak stabil, meh aku cerita sikit apa dah jadi masa telematch tuh....



malam sebelum telematch tu, aku dah anxious gila dah. aku tido pukul 2pagi sebab aku tengok cerita keluarga 69. kekekekke... lawak seyy. pukul 0530pagi aku dah bangun dah. aku bangun pack semua barang aku sebab aku risau la kan, takut tak sempat lepas telematch tu, aku kena rush amik bus untuk balik kedah lak.

siap2 pagi tu, kami bertolak awal la. sebab aku tak ingat jalan nak pergi ke zoo negara. so, i took a road that was mentioned to me. main redah jek. drive pun tahap kura2 kena parkinson punya speed la. tau2, tak sampai 40mins, kami dah sampai pun kat zoo negara. awal gila lak tu. aku ingat park kat luar la kan, senang sikit nak ciao nnt. nak elak crowd and also nak elak kena bayar parking. sekali dah dpat spot baekk punya, ada lak aney ni datang: "4 ringgit" kepala batas betul! park dah la sikit punya jauh, harga still the same macam parking kat dalam. sabar2.....

so, sampai awal, kami register kat first check point. dapat tikets and participant badges. since we had time in our hands, we meronda la dalam zoo tu. tengok the animals yang dah lama tak tengok we all. derang rindu tu. cuba korang tengok baby giraffe tu, siap tersipu2 malu lagi tgk kami datang melawat dia. boleh?

jalan punya jalan, finally jumpa la tapak carnival tu. takde apa lagi. derang masih tengah set up. we were the first to arrive. so, survey la benda apa kena buat. kami dah start strategizing, who will be playing in what game. then, when the carnival unofficially began, we were given a passbook upon 2nd registration. siap dapat tikar lagi untuk picnic kat situ. mmg fun la.

the official contest started with a set of 50 Qs to be answered. i was the first to grab the folder, maklum la, kiasu maa... we had 30mins to answer all the questions as correctly as we can. the answers were all over the carnival area. we had to ask, and even begged for the answers. aku tanya kieran, aku tanya hunny, aku tanya rachel, even hubby kepada cucu J.A Russell (founder of BOH) pun aku tanya. semata2 nak dapt jawapan. when the 30mins were up, it was time for picnic lunch. tu yang best tuh. dah la lapar gila. lauk yang derang serve lak mmg sedap. masa kami tgh lunch, derang periksa the answer sheets and kira markah. out of 80 teams, only 8 will be picked. so, while still waiting, aku sama yah gi main gasing, quilla and quida main guli. main congkak la, batu seremban la... semua yang ada... semua kami cuba.

after about 1 hour of waiting, it was time for the announcement. aku dah pesan dah sama the girls. aku cakap kalau tak dapat ni, takpe la. we head back. lagipun, aku nak kena balik kedah kan. and they all agreed. kieran was holding the paper with the 8 teams, and aku cuma mampu diri sana and tunggu. sekali tengok, the first team that was called were: "team ALIA ASHA'ARI"!!! . omg... masa tu... aku punya elated, mmg takleh nak bayang la. i was so so so so damn happy masa tu.

and oh yeah, remember masa aku masuk KCK dulu? my partner, Lut, he was there. he has his own team and who knew that we were to compete against each other. but there were such darlings that they were supporting us and we were also cheering for them. and as if the universe spoke, his team too made it to the final 8.

the games were very trivial la. tapi mmg require skills. especially yang bab kena tarik teh tu. that task was given to the Chef, Yah. aku rasa, kalau i was put to do that task, i don't think i could have done any better. but she tried her best, that i knew and i was happy because out of the 8 teams, only our team was supported by the FlyFm MyVi troopers gang. gila best la. they were cheering us on. and they were dead funny.

after all the games were done, and the scores tallied, we only managed to get the consolation prize. takpe la... janji we were the final 8. tu pun aku dah happy and the main thing is, we enjoyed ourselves to the max. tapi yang paling terkejut tu, the grand prize winner was a team that was an underdog. nak kata slumdog thousandaire... haaa... ni la dia. serious tak sangka that they won. i thot that Lut's team was going to win that i even congratulated him before they annouced the winner. after the announcement, even some of the officials there made that "WTF?" look. tapi nak buat macam mana, dah rezeki orang, kita tumpang lah gembira kan?

nevermind... there is always a next time. i know the law of attraction works. berbaloi juga aku balik KL just for this ;)

antara setan, si mati, dan cinta

hari ni pergi outing ngan yah. sangat tak tahu apa nak buat so, we decided to pergi tgk movie. kami pergi OU (mana lagi la kan?). mula2 pergi kat GSC, new wing. survey la tgk cerita apa ada. kami nak tgk "confessions of a shopaholic (ye, mmg outdated gila...), tapi the show kat GSC starts at 2345hours!! takde kerja nak tunggu macam tu punya lama. kami kat situ pun baru kul 1620hours. so, we walked over to TGV, survey tgk ada cerita apa. sedang yah tgk ada movie apa, aku nyer mata terpaku la pada trailer yang sedang playing. nampak macam gerun....



cerita ni cerita indon. tajuk dia "setan budeg", and "budeg" meaning "pekak" (pada saper yang tak cakap indon la kan). aku tgk trailer ni, aku rasa part yang dia nak kejut mayat kat morgue untuk minta tolong sebab dia tgh takut tu, aku rasa part tu sangat la kelakar, i was laughing like mad. then, yah tgh cakap apa ntah kat aku, pastu dia ciao beli ice cream. so, as i was left alone to decide nak tgk apa, aku baca la synopsis the now showing movies. sambil2 baca tu, aku tahan nak gelak...adoiyayy.... gelak teringat kat trailer hantu pekak ni. but before i burst out laughing and risk people thinking of me as crazy, i walked away. kaki jalan ke mana, mata ke mana, i nearly crashed into yah, yang tgh sibuk makan ice cream. nasib tak langgar. mau nangis guling2 dia kalau ice cream dia jatuh.

lepas much hesitation, we decided to go back to GSC. beli ticket and then tunggu untuk movie start. korang tau kan kat new wing tu ada arcade? aku ni bukan la gamers, but there is this one particular game yang i cannot pass.



omg... game ni la yang buat beg TIMBERLAND limited edition aku, kena curi. dengan duit2 aku, dengan I/C aku sekali kena curi. sebab apa, sebab masa tu, aku terlalu kushuk main game ni kat sunway pyramid, masa aku highschool dulu (aku tak ponteng arr... aku pergi atas pengetahuan mama, tapi kena arrange ngan driver arr, balik lambat sket... hehehe). [kalau la aku punya solat leh kushuk tahap ni, kan ke bermanfaat... adoiyayy]

so, aku main la game ni semalam. yang latest nyer. HOTD 4. korang leh tanya yah arr. i was palpitating. and aku main serious penuh semangat. sampai berpeluh2. and let me tell you, that was a good workout!! hehhe aku pun tak tahu kenapa yang aku berpeluh sangat. habis kuyup baju aku. yah pun tanya "ieee...why are you sweating like this?" ntah, aku pun takde jawapan. but i guess cause aku terlalu teruja kott main game ni. dah la lama tak main kan. some more aku pair sama abang gamers kat situ, nak kena tunjuk skill la sket. yang best tu, lepas first stage, aku dapat "excellent", abang gamers tu dapat "not bad" :8) (djambu, pinjam smiley arr). so, pada saper2 yang berkenaan (djambu puadovich), ada beran ke nak lawan?

lepas main game tu, aku tgk tangan aku menggigil. sekali fikir balik, owh, aku tgh lapar rupanya. aku pun pergi la cari sth to chow. sementara tu, yah main la game2 yang sangat takde adventure. game tinju sama game percussions.

jadi, apa la movie yang kami tgk?



movie ni. ermm.. aku suggest la kan, takyah tgk kat movies arr. lain arr kalau gi sama couple kan, then, ok la. kalau takde movie nak tgk, jgn arr choose ni. dah la lnengthy (2jam 15min), dia nyer storyline takde climax. very plateau-like. aku keep on criticizing the movie ada la. ada arr part2 yang kelakar. tapi tak banyak pun. yang best, ada scarlett johanson. i like her. i don't know what exactly about her that i like, but she's like uma thurman tau. there's sth about them that i can't point out, but i like.

after the movie, we had to rush home. yah had sth to do. tapi sempat arr singgah kat fresh mart, beli bahan sikit nak masak. sebab dah 2 malam aku janji nak masak chinese chicken stew, and malam semalam, i finally made it. chef yah kata sedap... :8) (sekali lagi djambu, pinjam ye). nak tangkap gambar pun tak sempat sebab masing2 dah lapar tahap gaban. habis arr yah makan. well, nak kata apa kan, selain dari asam pedas (kesukaan jo-ee), bubur kacang (kesukaan aku), chinese chicken stew is another one of my specialities. saper nak merasa, meh arr.

one last shot

lucky for us, on our last day in pkd Kuala Nerang, the food unit was holding a Typhoid jab day for the walk-in food handlers. i was more than happy to take the jab for myself as a percaution. i know i am not a food handler but i'd rather be safe than sorry.

i requested that the SN allows us to give some jabs to the food handlers. but she wasn't too sure with us. so, fine, let her do all the jabs. then, for my jab, initially, i wanted the SN to do it for me. but in my twisted mind, i asked DD to give me the shot. i was very sure of him to let him do this. boy! was i in for a surprise!!

thank God that SN Sarah was there to guide DD thruout the procedure. i was practically shaking in my chair when i look at DD preparing my shot. he was trembling really bad, mostly because he was nervous and maybe because i was making him nervous. but i kept my mind positive and begin to laugh endlessly at nothing, just to keep my endorphin on high. when it was time for the shot, i didn't even dare to look, which i usually do when i get a poked by a syringe. i could feel that his hand was trembling while giving me the shot and i just pray that everything goes smoothly. TV was bz shooting the moment. in the end, the vaccine went IM in me, with a shot of slight pain.

during lunch, when everyone was bz lunching, i was just sitting down, talking to them. i wasn't that hungry. i saw some food handlers coming for their shots. suddenly, the food unit person looked at me and signalled for me to come into the office and give those shots. let me tell you this: i have NEVER done this and i went into the office with the confidence of a mouse and the theoretical knowledge of the procedure running thru my mind with each step i take. but i kept a straight face. SN Sarah wasn't there, only the food unit person and the 2 food handlers. as i walked in, he said to the food handlers: "ok, doctor dah sampai". my adrenaline went whooooshhh!!!

i washed my hands, and prepared the shots, calmly, or at least i was trying to look calm. throughout the preparation, i was talking to them like as if i was a pro at this. i think they believed me. for the first shot, i asked which arm does he want to be shot as the vaccine will cause slight pain afterwards. he gave me his left arm. i told him to look away, because i was afraid, not him. he diligently did. ok, swab the area, IM the syringe, retract the piston abit, no blood, push the piston in, empty the content of the syringe, hold the entry point with the swab, pull out needle, press for 3 minutes.

REd: "ok, dah siap dah"

him: "huh? dah sudah ke? tak rasa apa pun"

WHOA!!! elated!!!

straight faced REd: "hmmm... ok la tu tak rasa kan :)"

the feeling i had was CRAZY! then for the second guy, i did the same, but i was trembling abit when i wanted to poke him. but he didn't wince at all. he was just looking at my procedure. after i was done, they thank me.

i felt like i was on top of the world for a moment.

i walked out the office thinking: "whoa, did it without guidance. i know i can!"

now, i am just weak with the shot. that is the after effect of taking the inactivated typhoid vaccine....haishh....

law of attraction, law of attraction. i want to follow the school team to do health screening.

but initially that morning, we were told by the nurses that we might not make it because this week is exam week for most schools. but i kept on praying, hoping that somehow we can go. and after a few phone calls, we got a school that was exam free. not many students were to be screened but at least we got the experience.



the screening started off with a small talk given by the staff nurse of personal hygiene and why shots like this are given in schools. the children were very cooperative albeit being naughty. they participated in the talk by answering Qs from the nurses and also from us, doctors-in-training.

right after that, the girls were lined up for the eye check using the Snellen's test, while the boys are lined up for another check, the scrotal feel. some were shy, some were "whatever". it was funny to see the 7 year olds laughing at each other and taking a sneak peak at their friend's privates. after that, the boys were in line to join the girls and the physical check-up begins. since we were around, we did the heart and lungs screening as well. i detected 2 abnormal lung sounds in the standard 1 children and anita detected one in the standard 6 children. the nurses were elated that we detected these cases and they asked us to write a referral for each case to the MOs of Hospital Kuala Nerang (more of this later).

it is weird that there was only ONE chinese girl in the standard 1 group. the nurse had trouble explaining to her what she needs to do and what she needs to inform her parents about her eyesight. but she couldn't quite understand. thank God for my not-too-good mandarin, i tried my level best to explain to her what she needs to do. and she somewhat understood me. she left the room smiling, knowing well that she is ok except for her eyesight. thanks jo-ee for those mandarin tutoring.

towards the evening, we had a talk with encik ali about the new door to pass the thai border, and some other stuffs. i wasn't concentrating because i was using the net :D. once he left us, we started la...clowning around with the mic and all. it was just something to let the pressure out of us :).

at last, before we left the building for the day, photoOP time....
