orang naik haji, aku naik angin.

sebelum raya hari tu, aku sempat la balik KL for awhile. tu yang sempat tengok umah baru, jalan2 kat OU, jalan2 kat kawasan umah baru. kira sejak petang friday lepas sampai tengah hari kelmarin, mmg bz manjang la.

hari sabtu pagi, kami bertolak ke kedah. aku excited sangat cause finally la kan, the whole family dapat datang to the place where i am living in currently. malam tu aku bawa derang gi makan kat tanjung dawai. wah!! makan lima orang aja. tapi meja penuh macam 11 orang! but alhamdulillah, semua muka happy and kenyang. the bill came up to rm138, aku dah risau la kalau mama nnt bising kat aku sebab recommend tempat mahal (pada aku dah kira mahal tu) but she was like "this place is cheap!!". aku pun diam aja la, happy. i guess if compared to KL mmg tempat macam ni murah la kan and plus the catches are uber fresh!

pagi raya tu, we all pergi to my foster parents house in merbok. yeah, tak macam raya2 yang lepas, this year, we raya with my fosters. this year also our rezeki murah, alhamdulillah. dapat la jalankan ibadah korban sekeluarga. kan ke my nuclear family is not the typical nuclear family. so masa kat kampung tu, people were staring, but i can't blame them. i just let them be. i am happy that they are so accomodating to my family and melayan kami super best punya. lepas dah selesai semua urusan and raya, we all bertolak ke penang pula.

buat apa lagi kat penang, jalan sakan la!

then, 2nd day raya haji, time for the fam to go back to KL. but before they balik, singgah dulu kat my fosters' place. sementara my mak sibuk menggulai kat dapur with my mum, me and my sisters attempted the impossible (for us la...). kami pergi kait kelapa muda. didn't know that susah gila ok!

ye la, kelapa dah cantik and rimbun. mama and shad demam pulak. so, nak cabut kelapa untuk derang and also aku nak juga try my hands on this kan. first guna galah buloh. sampai patah la aku kerjakan galah tu. then, cari punya cari, jumpa pula paip besi, apa lagi, amik je la.

dah la panas terik. kat kampung ni, kena la dress bebetul kan. i mean, for my sisters it is ok, but for me, faham2 aja la. then, dengan tengkok aku yang dah nak tercabut ni, dengan kerengge yang dominating the pokok, kami berusaha (most of the time aku le yang mengait). nana was the photog while chanting "rojak. rojak." (hehehe.... this is our gambate chant :P ) . of course la tergelak macam orang gila. tenaga terus hilang sebab gelak banyak sangat.

pusing kiri la, pusing kanan la, bergayut kat dahan la, kelapa tak jatuh2 juga. usaha lagi! sampai ada part aku naik angin pun ada!! last2 berkat sabar, dapat la 4 biji kelapa muda. punya la happy macam first time jumpa kelapa ke apa.

then, masa untuk kopek kelapa. adoiiyayyy.... aku ingat senang la kan. dulu masa aku kopek kat kampung aku kat segamat, senang la. ni, aku tak reti sebab kena pakai parang. jadi, aku gave up, amira did most of the work. berpeluh2 kami! last2 dapat kopek SATU je kelapa muda tu. haisshh.... air dia pun tak sampai segelas. takpe arr.... sebab usah punya pasal, kami share la 4 orang.

lain kali, aku beli je la. senang sket.

TWILIGHT

we went to watch the long awaited "Twilight" just now. my expectations were high as i have already read the book. from the book, the characters are deadly gorgeous (excuse the pun) and they are so extraordinary (of course they are, they are vampires!!) that you wish that you are one of them (well, at least i do).

but as always, the movie is NEVER better not even close to as good as the books. remember "the other boleyn girl"? how i was so frustrated with the movie, i nearly sent a hate mail to the director? i mean, how could they (the authours) allow their good books be degraded by directors who just tell half truths??

well, anywho, apart from my disappointment, i somewhat did enjoy the movie. and no wonder why. edward cullen. gawsh!! ok fine, he is fictional. the whole thing is. but the way he cares for bella swan, the way he wants bella swan, the way he needs bella swan, he is so romantic. she is his personal brand of morphine. he is protective of her, but he is not obsessed by her. he can't bear to see her get hurt. she is his life.

but of course, it is impossible for them to be together. simply because he is immortal, and she is well, human. going against all odds, they still strive to be together. she understands him, his family, his life. she don't mind him. he on the other hand, cannot reveal himself in her world. he has to remain a secret. a love story that i could only wish i am in.

after watching it, i wonder, where is my edward cullen? will he ever be around? will i ever experience what bella swan has with him?

i am waiting.

macam mana nak buang kucing

pernah tak korang menghadapi masalah: "haishh... mana la aku nak buang/beri kucing aku ni??" mesti ada kan? lain la kalau korang mmg tak bela kucing kan. kadang2 tu, bukan korang bela pun, dia pulak yang rajin nyinggah kat umah, al-maklum la, dapat makan free kan. pastu, pandai jual muka murah lak. tu yang kesian tak sanggup nak halau kan.

tapi, bila yang datang jadi penghuni tetap tu membawa perut yang macam laby sayung, aku pun dah mula la pening. sure punya, akan beranak pinak. mana la aku nak jaga kan. sedangkan aku pun hidup makan betik, ni nak jaga anak2 kucing la pulak. mana boleh nak hidup.

kisahnya macam ni, nenek aku kat kampung nun, dia ni takde la bela kucing per se. tapi, kucing rajin naa bertepek kat umah dia. dia ni lak baik hati. asal kucing datang, kasi makan. asal kucing buat muka kesian, diberi tempat tidur. pastu, kucing tu bawa pulak sedara mara dia semua. haisshh.. nenek aku tu kan ke dah tua. mana la larat nak melayan. ngan atuk aku lagi, ngan ayam2 dia lagi, ngan kebun paya dia lagi. so, terpaksa la dia let-go some of the cats. tapi masalahnya, kalau korang mmg dah tahu la kan, macam mana jauh kita buang kucing pun, somehow dia pandai cari jalan balik.

1000 + lasik

we (jo-ee and i) were so damn bored last weekend. we didn't know what to do. we didn't want to go to the mall cause it is just a waste of time and money. we did our grocery shopping already, so there was actually no strong reason for us to go out. so, as i was looking around the house for something to do, i found this box lying there in the living area. touched, but never tempted. as i am a fan at doing jig-saws, i braced myself and started the jig-saw. not long after that, jo-ee came along. and we soon became addicted.

this is a 1000-piece puzzle. we finished this puzzle in the span of about 20hours, but not all in one day, as of course we too aren't that patient. but finishing this jig-saw, my eyes are starting to squint. hehehe. i guess i would have to undergo lasik surgery to correct it huh.

the jig-saw did not come with the special glue. so i modified the situation and used the normal glue. usually, i don't like my hands to be covered in glue cause i know for sure that it is hard to come off. but because of this jig-saw, i didn't mind at all, so long that we finish the blahdy thing.

so, there you go, it is done and over with and it is waiting to be framed. not by us of course. because the puzzle does not actually belong to neither of us. hehehe. we nabbed it and just did it. it says there "love is kind". well, it sure is. if love ain't kind, i would have torn the pieces into tiny, unrecognizable shreds simply because i can't take the white part of the jig-saw!!

in the end, satisfaction was definitely guranteed.

85%

terkejut juga tengok banner yang hampir sama besar ngan dinding bangunan ni. nasib masa tu lampu merah kat traffic light, sempat la aku snap gambar ni. mesti korang pelik naper aku nak snap pasal kedai kain kan? bukannyer apa, aku tengok jualan dia tu macam melampau la pulak. 85%!! macam mana tokei kedai nak untung? atau dia dah awal2 mark up harga barang and then buat la sale yang tak masuk benak ni. alah, sama macam padini concept store tu la. sale sampai 70% konon. imagine la kan, satu t-shirt bangang, harga "asal" rm74. lepas sale, rm berapa ntah. aku rasa, beli kat chowkit lagi baloi kott.

neway, dengan adanya sale kedai kain ni, maknanya, sebelum ni derang amik untung melampau2 ke apa? kain apa yang dijual murah naa tu, aku pun tak pasti la. aku tak masuk check lagi. tapi ada sekali tu, aku survey la kan. dalam kedai tu, siap ada DJ lagi tau. and then, ada dua bahagian, bahagian kain biasa, pastu ada bahagian kain "eksklusif" yang price tag dia dalam linkungan rm50 ke atas untuk satu meter kain. alah, biasa la, kain bling2 la, silk china la, kapas paris la, chiffon permaisuri england la, macam-macam ada. padahal, ntah2 kain tu local aja, nama je glamer lebih.

dulu kedai kain ni nama dia jakel, siap promo lagi kata yang derang ni branch dari the famous jakel kat segamat. la ni, lain la pulak nama dia, jadi ALAMODA la pulak. apahal? jakel segamat tak dapat nak maintain ke menda?

sekali aku fikir2 balik kan, agaknya kain yang murah naa dia nak jual tu kan, kain kapan kott?

MUALLAF

why is it that katy perry's song "i kissed a girl" is played all over malaysian radio again and again, only to have the word "girl" bleeped out and yet sometimes, it is still there because they forgot to cancel the word, without any critism from local press?

why is it that sexy bollywood movies conquer our national channels in the evening but wearing sexy is totally shunned upon?

why is it that shah rukh khan get a datukship for "promoting" melacca, but yasmin ahmad who had won many international awards, as well as local awards with her locally made movies, but her work is always criticised?

why is it that local movies that have scenes in clubs and sometimes scenes in rooms with sexy actors are allowed, but if the whole movie is something that you can learn form and is "controversial" for the narrow minded that it is totally banned?

why is it that the government doesn't allow the truth to be shown?

why is it that facades are more acceptable than the real thing? is it easier to digest? well, maybe for now, but what about the future?

why is MUALLAF not shown in malaysia, but in singapore and other countries?

i really want to watch this.

buckle-up behind

so what is the new "rave" in malaysia now? well, what else other than making it COMPULSORY for the rear seat passengers to buckle up. and if they don't they will be fined (God knows how much la). and, if there are more than three rear passengers in a 5-seater car, the forth passenger won't be fined for not having a seatbelt on (because obviously, there are only 3 seatbelts in the rear for a 5-seater car), but instead, the driver will be fined for overloading the car.

see, that is the thing about malaysia, you omplement something, it is HOT for a few months, then it becomes ice-cold and no one bothers about it. this law has been around in other countries since like forever. the first country that i noticed is very strict about the rear passengers buckling up is, Australia. when i was 14, i went there and my foster mom was so particular that we have our setbelts on. so fine, when in rome, do as the roman does. and mind, they are very vigilant about the law.

but in malaysia, you want to implement something lidis, until when la it can last? even the police here also never put their seatbelts on. the motorists ride without their helmets (as a pillion rider, i also had my episodes of riding without the helmet), the special lanes are still, well, not that special. and all of these just passed without the notice of the authorities. except for some situation, especially at the end of the month when the monthly wage has somewhat depleted and the police need "duit kopi" to survive the month. haaa....then la there will see even the slightest mistake we make like, missing the traffic light in the middle of the night when there are absolutely no cars around, and you are in a hurry for an emergency. out of nowhere, the sound of police sirens wail and break the silence of the night. and you'd be left thinking: "for real??"

so, go ahead and train yourselves and your passengers to buckle-up, infront or behind. because from the 1/1/09, if your passengers are not with their belts on, you'll be fined.

let see how the police handle this.

"hello. my name is....."

we are all given our names by our parents or maybe our names were suggested by some close family members or friends.

but as we grow up, not many of us actually retain the name. it is more like a formality to have a name so that you can use it for registration purposes. i am sure that many of us have lived most of our lives answering to nicknames, rather than the given name. reason being, it is much more easier to remember a person like that. i mean, nicknames are what people know you as, sometimes, it just defines you.

so, here you go, some of the funny nicknames that are in my family and some that i have given to my friends:

myself: AKA marlyne, lynn, mok (my dad and some of my family members used to call me by this name when i was younger as i was an obesed child), ain (from my teachers in school), tengko (when i was aneroxic 3 years back).

my ma: cik ham, mama long, mama ham.

my dad: abu, abs ketau (i seriously have no idea why???), mr. magoo, papa long.

my bro: mat tumin, aminah hassan, bamin, pott.

my 1st sis: yah, cik yah.

my 2nd sis: nana, nana nurgaya, baby.

my 3rd sis: leya, ya.

my 4th sis: bee, amani.

khairun: kings (only i call her this), cen (because she is like the mushroom after a rain. tumbuh merata. she is always everywhere).

ain: si kin (hehhehe... and i will be cik an for her).

my uncle: acun.

my aunt: bunyow.

so what is your nickname? or the weirdest nicks that you have in your circle of people?
